Privacy Policy

One Throw is a coaching app for throws coaches and their athletes. It is operated by Throws U, LLC ("One Throw", "we", "us"). This policy explains what information we collect through the One Throw mobile app and the website at onethrow.app, how we use it, and the choices you have.
If you have a question about this policy, email support@onethrow.app.
1. How One Throw is organized
One Throw is used by teams. A team has coaches (including admins) and athletes. Coaches add athletes to their roster, record and annotate throw videos, and send analyses back. Athletes request analyses and message their coaches.
Much of the information in One Throw is added by a coach about an athlete — for example, a video of the athlete's throw, or their height and weight. We handle that information on behalf of the team so the team can coach its athletes.
Two different roles, and which one applies depends on the information. We decide how account information is handled — your name, email, password and role — because that is what running One Throw requires. Coaching content about an athlete, such as a video or an analysis, we handle on behalf of the team, which decides who is on its roster, what is recorded and what is kept.
2. Information we collect
Account information
- Your name and email address
- Your password, which is handled by our authentication provider and is never stored by us in readable form
- Your role (coach, admin, or athlete) and the team you belong to
Profile information
Provided by you, or by a coach on your team:
- Birth date
- Gender
- Height and weight
- A profile photo
A coach can add an athlete to their roster, with a name, email address and photo, before that athlete has installed the app or created an account.
Height and weight are collected because coaches use them, they are optional, and they can be skipped at sign-up and cleared later in settings. We do not use them to assess your health, and One Throw is not a medical or fitness-tracking service.
Coaching content
- Videos of throws, uploaded by coaches or athletes
- Analyses a coach creates, which can include drawings over the video, a recording of the coach's voice, and — if the coach turns it on — a recording of the coach's own face from the front camera
- Messages, photos and videos sent in conversations
- Analysis requests an athlete sends to a coach
Videos can show the people in them. Who appears in a video is not something we detect; a video becomes connected to a specific athlete when a coach or athlete attaches it to that athlete.
Device and technical information
- Push notification token and device platform (iOS or Android), so we can send you notifications you have allowed
- IP address, processed for security — for example, to limit repeated attempts at guessing a team join code. Where we store it for that purpose, we store a one-way hash rather than the address itself.
- Sign-in and security logs kept by our authentication and hosting providers
Device permissions
The app asks for the following only when you use a feature that needs them. You can turn each off in your device settings.
| Permission | Used for |
|---|---|
| Camera | Filming a throw; recording a coach's face alongside an analysis |
| Microphone | Recording a coach's voice over an analysis |
| Photo library | Choosing videos and photos to send, or a profile photo; saving an analysis to your device |
| Notifications | Telling you about new messages, analyses and requests |
We only receive the specific photos and videos you choose. We do not read the rest of your photo library.
What we do not collect
- We do not collect your precise location, contacts, or advertising identifier.
- We do not show advertising in One Throw.
- We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
Website
The website at onethrow.app does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide One Throw — create accounts, connect coaches and athletes on a team, store and deliver videos, analyses and messages
- Send notifications you have allowed
- Keep the service secure and prevent abuse
- Respond to support requests
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your videos, analyses or messages for advertising.
We do not analyse your videos automatically. One Throw has no automated or AI movement analysis. If that ever changes, we will update this policy and tell you before it is used.
Our legal reasons, if you are in the UK or the European Economic Area
The law there asks us to say what allows us to use your information. For each use above, it is one of these:
- To provide the service you signed up for — your account, your team, and storing and delivering videos, analyses and messages.
- Our legitimate interests — keeping One Throw secure and preventing abuse, answering support requests, and handling coaching content for your team so it can coach its athletes. Where we rely on this, you can object, and we will stop unless we have a strong reason that outweighs yours.
- Consent — notifications and device permissions, which you can turn off at any time in your device settings, and a parent or guardian's consent for an athlete aged 13 to 17 (section 8).
- A legal obligation — where the law requires us to keep or disclose information.
4. Who can see your information
People on your team, according to their role:
- Coaches on a team can see the profiles of athletes on that team, and the videos and analyses connected to those athletes.
- Athletes can see the analyses sent to them, videos they uploaded or that were shared with them, and their own conversations.
Analyses a coach created remain available to that coach, including after they leave the team. We are telling you this plainly because it is the part of One Throw people are most likely to find surprising: a coach who moves to another club keeps the analyses they made, which contain video of the athletes they coached.
If you want an analysis removed, contact the team's admin or email support@onethrow.app.
Service providers who operate parts of One Throw for us, under contracts that limit how they may use the information:
| Provider | What they do |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, sign-in, and file storage |
| Expo | Delivering push notifications and app updates |
| Apple | Delivering notifications to iOS devices; App Store distribution |
| Resend | Sending email for us — for example, a request for a parent or guardian's consent |
| Netlify | Hosting the website |
| Cloudflare | Domain name services for onethrow.app |
| Hosting our support email |
Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, or where we believe in good faith it is necessary to protect the safety of any person, to prevent fraud or abuse, or to protect our rights.
Business transfers. If One Throw is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
5. How long we keep information
- Account and profile information is kept while your account is active. An account that has not been signed in to for 12 months may be deleted, along with the content that belongs to it alone. We will email you before that happens.
- Videos sent in conversations that a coach doesn't save to an athlete or use in an analysis are deleted automatically 90 days after upload. So are videos an athlete uploads but never sends.
- Videos a coach uploads to their own video library are kept until the coach deletes them.
- Photos sent in conversations are kept.
- Reported messages are hidden from the conversation straight away and kept privately so our support team can review the report. If the report is upheld, the content is permanently deleted; if not, it is restored. A record that a report was made is kept for 2 years after it is resolved, so a pattern of reports about the same person can be recognised. Where the law requires us to preserve or report content — material that endangers a child above all — we will do so, and keep it as long as that requires.
- Messages you delete are permanently deleted for both people in the conversation.
- Analyses and videos saved to an athlete are kept until they are deleted by a coach on the team.
6. Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app. Coaches go to Settings → Account and Billing → Delete Account; athletes go to Settings → Personal Settings → Delete Account. You can also email support@onethrow.app and ask us to do it.
Deleting your account does not erase everything connected to you, and we want to be clear about what happens:
Removed:
- Your sign-in identity, so the account can no longer be used
- Your personal profile details — name, email address, birth date, gender, height, weight and profile photo
- Your membership of your team
- Videos you uploaded that were never saved by a coach or used in an analysis
- Analysis requests you sent that a coach has not yet answered, and their videos
Kept, by the team:
- Analyses coaches made of you, and videos a coach saved to you. These are part of the team's coaching records.
- Messages you sent in conversations, so the other person keeps their history. They are no longer shown with your name.
For coaches: deleting your account does not cancel a team subscription.
Deleting your account removes your identity from One Throw rather than erasing every trace of you. Your sign-in, your profile and your personal details go. What remains is the coaching record the team keeps — analyses made of you, videos a coach saved — and messages you sent to other people, which are no longer shown with your name. We do this because those records belong to the team and to the other people in the conversation as much as to you.
If you need a fuller erasure than this, email support@onethrow.app and we will tell you what is possible.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, or to object to or restrict some uses of it. To make a request, email support@onethrow.app. We will verify the request before acting on it.
- You can update most profile details in the app.
- You can turn off notifications and device permissions in your device settings.
- Because a team manages coaching records about its athletes, we may involve your team's admin in requests about those records.
If you live in California, or a U.S. state with a similar law
You may have the right to know what personal information we collect and why, to get a copy of it, to correct it, to ask us to delete it, and not to be treated differently for exercising any of those rights. You can make a request by emailing support@onethrow.app, and someone you authorize can make it for you.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. There is nothing to opt out of, because One Throw does not do it: no advertising, no ad identifiers, no tracking across other companies' apps or websites. Section 2 says the same thing from the collection side.
We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for any purpose that would give you a right to limit it.
If you live in the UK or the European Economic Area
You may have the rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your information, to receive a copy in a portable form, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. Section 3 sets out the legal reason for each use of your information, and section 10 explains how it reaches the United States.
Wherever you live
We do not make you prove which law protects you. The rights above — to know, to get a copy, to correct, to delete, and to be treated the same either way — are available to everyone who uses One Throw, whatever country or state you are in. It is simpler for you and simpler for us than working out which statute applies to whom.
We answer requests within 30 days. If we need longer we will tell you why. We will ask you to verify the request from the email address on the account, because the worst outcome here is handing someone else your information.
8. Children and young athletes
Under 13. One Throw is not available to children under 13. We ask for an athlete's date of birth before an account is created, and we do not create an account for anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Ages 13 to 17. An athlete aged 13 to 17 needs the consent of a parent or guardian to use One Throw. Here is exactly how that works.
How we ask. When an athlete tells us they are under 18, we ask them for a parent or guardian's email address and send that address a message explaining who is asking, what One Throw is, and what they would be agreeing to. The message contains a link that only works once, and expires after 14 days. A new link can be sent at any time from the app, which is also how a mistyped address is corrected — sending a new one immediately stops the old link working.
What the athlete can do while waiting: nothing. The account exists, but it is on hold. They cannot upload a video, send a message, request an analysis, or set a profile photo. This is enforced by our database rather than only by the app, so it holds however the account is accessed.
What we keep as the record. The guardian's email address, the date the request was sent and the date it was agreed, and which version of our Terms was agreed to. We store a one-way hash of the link rather than the link itself, so the record cannot be used to agree on a guardian's behalf. We keep it while the athlete's account exists.
A guardian can change their mind. Email support@onethrow.app and we will put the account back on hold.
Wherever you live. We ask for a parent or guardian's consent for every athlete under 18. Some countries let a young person agree for themselves from 13, 14, 15 or 16; we ask a guardian regardless.
Coaches who add a minor to their roster are also responsible for having any consent their organization requires.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, email support@onethrow.app and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encrypted connections, private file storage accessed only through time-limited links, and access rules in our database that limit each person to the information their role permits. Information stored with our database and storage provider is encrypted at rest.
No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information transmitted to us.
10. Where information is processed
One Throw is available worldwide and is operated from the United States. Your information is stored and processed in the United States. The service providers in section 4 may also handle it in other countries where they operate — for example, to deliver a notification or an email to you.
If you use One Throw from outside the United States, your information is transferred to the United States, where data protection law may differ from the law where you live. Where the law requires a safeguard for that transfer — for example, from the UK or the European Economic Area — we rely on the protections in our agreements with our service providers, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and the UK's equivalent.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above. If a change is material, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
